In March of 2016, after receiving a $3 million commitment from the City of St. Matthews, the Louisville Metro Council appropriated $1 Million for the expansion of the St. Matthews Eline Library. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $4.5 Million and is a long anticipated project of the libraries frequent visitors as the St. Matthews library regularly has one of the highest circulation rates in all of the Louisville Free Public Library system.
Today, Councilwoman Leet celebrated the groundbreaking of this new and improved library with Mayor Rick Tonini of St. Matthews and others. The renovations will include a major addition that will extend off the back of the to the existing facility as well as additional parking spaces. The project will also include a new fenced-in area for play and an out door educational space.
