Councilwoman Angela Leet, the City of St. Matthews and Louisville Metro Public Works have provided funding for a new sidewalk project along the east side of Elmwood Ave. (from Hubbards Lane to Cherrywood Road).
All new sidewalks will be constructed within Louisville Metro public right-of-way and any driveway aprons that do not comply with new Americans with Disabilities Act requirements may be replaced from the street up to a suitable tie-down point before the right-way-line. At this time we expect that only 1 tree will need to be removed. Public Works will do their best to avoid damaging or removing any trees or shrubs that may impact the new sidewalk alignment.
One of our shared goals is to provide as much sidewalk connectivity as possible for pedestrians throughout Metro Council District 7, as well as the entirety of Metro Louisville. It is our belief that this new investment in your neighborhood will not only increase pedestrian safety in the area but will also provide many other benefits including increased mobility, safer access to local schools and healthier communities.
